GIANTS VS GREEN BAY: GAME CAPSULE

The New York Giants (0-1) will be seeking their first win of the 2007 season when they host the Green Bay Packers (1-0) Sunday in their home opener in Giants Stadium.

Giants Home Openers -
The Giants are 45-33-4 in home openers all-time and 17-13 in Giants Stadium openers. Last season they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts, 26-21, in their Giants Stadium debut. It was the first NFL game where two brothers, Eli and Peyton Manning, faced off against each other at quarterback. It was the team’s first home opening loss in the past four seasons.

The Series - The Packers lead the regular season series, which dates to 1928, 24-21-2. Green Bay also leads the postseason series, 4-1. All five of the team’s postseason matchups were in NFL Championship games between 1938 and 1962 with the Giants only victory coming in their first postseason meeting. The two teams most recently played
each other in the regular season on Oct. 3, 2004 with the Giants earning a 14-7 victory in Green Bay.

The Giants are 5-4 against the Packers in Giants Stadium and 14-13-2 as the home team against Green Bay. Five of the last seven games between the two teams have been in Giants Stadium. The visiting team has won the last three games in the series. The Packers have 48 wins in road openers, the most in NFL
history.
