Q: Any more details on Plaxico’s ankle?
A: It is what it is.
Q: What prompted it?
A: Because he really didn’t practice a whole lot last week. And then, of course, when he plays, it gets sore again and it has been a kind of a continuous nagging thing. So he is going to have it evaluated by Dr. Anderson.
Q: It is not the surgically repaired foot?
A: The other one.
Q: Is this the one he hurt in training camp?
A: This is the one that has been a problem for him all of the way through. I don’t know whether – obviously he did something to it.
Q: As far as you know, there is nothing broken?
A: There is nothing broken.
Q: Other than his regular soreness, did he come from the game on Monday okay?
A: He did.
Q: what if…
A: Don’t speculate on anything. I can’t tell you anything about that other than the fact that he is going to have it evaluated. He is going to have exactly what your sheet says. Hopefully (there will be) some further recommendation as to what can be done to relieve the issue. Plaxico actually the other day said to us that he has to practice. He has got to practice. He is not practicing and he is coming into the games. To his credit he knows his assignments but obviously he is not as sharp as he could be.
Q: So there is a chance….
A: I’m not putting any … Fellows, that’s it. There is no more to say until we hear what the doctor says. I don’t know what to tell you. He is going to have a further evaluation and they are going to try to tell him how to manage it better. But who knows what will happen.
Q: You can’t rule out surgery either?
A: I don’t have any more to tell you. You asked me questions about things that are speculative and this is it. Boom, this is it. I don’t know anymore.
Q: Will they know in 24 hours?
A: I would expect that once the evaluation is completed, that there will be some kind of a diagnosis on the part of Dr. Warren and Dr. Anderson, together.
Q: Your team seemed to play hard the second half of that game. Do you expect that kind of effort every week? How do you get that?
A: We have obviously gone through a couple of weeks in which it hasn’t been as good as it should be and could be. And obviously the play was better. We want to continue to have it that way every game.
Q: Your team, the last couple of years, hasn’t seen a lot of McNabb. Talk about how you go about talking about the challenge of facing him?
A: You kept reading and seeing in the first two weeks that things weren’t – he wasn’t sharp; they weren’t able to execute the way they wanted to. Well, they certainly did the other day – on all fronts. They played very, very well and were able to accomplish pretty much what they set out to. And Donovan was real decisive, real sharp. Those numbers are incredible – having 80% completion and a QB rating that is out of sight. So he played the game very, very well and connected with his receivers well. And their running game and their passing game together was outstanding.
Q: Is he still just as dangerous to scramble?
A: Yes, he is. You could see the other day that a lot of balls came out in rhythm. He didn’t do a lot of moving. But he can and he always has been able to move and buy extra time and either hurt you with the throw out of the pocket or run the ball. In my opinion he is looking to throw the ball, but he is very dangerous when he comes out.
Q: Could you give us a little bit about this matchup; two teams with a similar start to the season?
A: To comment on that, both teams were obviously 0-2, both teams win their third game. It is in the Division, great rivalry; great games last year, playoff opponents last year. So an awful lot of opportunities here for the kind of classic game that occurs often in the NFC East. So we are excited about that.
Q: Re: Preparing for Westbrook.
A: He is just so – you talk about run, you talk about pass. He is illusive; he is quick. He runs with power. He catches the ball extremely well. He is an excellent screen runner. They do a great job with their screens. He makes people miss. He runs with power. He had one of his touchdowns where he just left people in his wake. He is a premier playmaker; one of the premier playmakers in the League.
Q: Aaron Ross to start?
A: We will make that decision going forward here this week. We are contemplating different things. First of all, we will watch and see how we practice in terms of our matchups and we will go from there.
Q: How did Kevin Dockery do in his extended work this past week?
A: He did okay; he did okay. Obviously you are trying to get him on the field more and get him back to some kind of routine so that he can feel good about his own progress. He has been very much on and off. As you know, this fall he has missed an awful lot of time.
Q: RE: Eagles pass rush.
A: Last week it was incredible.
Q: How important is it to get a run/pass balance?
A: It will be real critical. Their front is playing very well. Their front is very good. They are deep at the end position and all four of the ends rush the passer very well. They are getting good solid play inside and so you are going to have to have good balance and a good mix in your play calling. You just don’t want them to pass rush all day.
Q: How much of an advantage is it to have a guy from their staff (Steve Spagnuolo) with you now?
A: Obviously he has great familiarity. But when it comes time to play the game the teams are going to play the game. So it is going to come down to who executes the best and who makes the plays. We’ve played against each other so many times and going against their personnel – they do have some different people now – I’m not going to say – we have some different people as well, but there is familiarity prior to Steve coming here in terms of how we play, how they play against us, how we play against them. And so, as I say, it will come down to the execution and making the plays on Sunday night.
Q: They don’t have Trotter any more. What kind of a challenge does a young player like Gaither present?
A: Gaither played last year pretty much the whole second half of the season on the outside. And they felt strongly enough about him to move him inside. Obviously he is getting more comfortable in the defense. If you look at their blitz scheme, you see him -- very comfortable, very active. So they are making the necessary adjustments and moving forward just like everyone does in this League.
Q: He is a different kind of player than Trotter?
A: Oh yeah, different. Trotter was just an extremely physical strong, strong big man. Gaither is not quite that type of physical build, if you will. But he is an aggressive guy.
Q: When you look at David Diehl, is he starting to look more like a tackle?
A: Naturally he is getting better every week. He has played out there enough against some very good people. And he has gotten more used to the position and the people that he goes against because you do see such a premier pass rusher. He has improved, not only in studying the opposition but in his own play.
Q: Do you think your pass rush is getting better?
A: We are not there yet, obviously. In any phase, in my opinion, in no phase are we playing as well as we can play. I think, as I said many times, I thought we played with very good effort the other day. We were physical. And those are the things that allowed us to win the game. We still could be sharper in all three phases. And we are going to have to be.
