STATISTICAL ADJUSTMENT MADE. Osi Umenyiora lost a sack when the Elias Sports Bureau made a scoring change in the Dallas game. The play on which Umenyiora was credited with a two-yard sack of Tony Romo with 3:42 remaining in the second quarter was changed to a Romo rush for minus-two yards. Umenyiora now has 8.0 sacks this season, putting him in a five-way tie for seventh place. The Giants have 31.0 sacks, one less than they had all of last season.

PRE-PRACTICE INJURY REPORT/COACH COUGHLIN PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS: Here is your pre-practice injury report on this, the first full work day for the Giants following the bye week: WR Plaxico Burress (ankle); WR Steve Smith (scapula/ hamstring); and RB Derrick Ward (ankle/groin).

According to head head coach Tom Coughlin, all three won't practice today (though Burress actually was able to do some work -- see the next item). Regarding Smith, the coach said the receiver's shoulder has come along on schedule, but the hamstring is the bigger of the two issues at the moment.

Safety James Butler, who is coming off a hamstring/ankle injury, will remain the starter, according to Coughlin, however, rookie Michael Johnson "has shown enough" to continue getting playing time.

BURRESS PRACTICE UPDATE: WR Plaxico Burress did participate in drills today, doing the team drills and some of the individual drills, mixing things up by going in and out and running plays he thought might be important for him to run for this week's game so that he would be sharper for the showdown against Dallas. He also shared that his teammates applauded him when he had his first reception and that his ankle is getting a little stronger. | Injury Report | Head Coach Tom Coughlin | QB Eli Manning _ Wade Phillips | QB Tony Romo

SALARY CAP NOTE. The deadline for NFL teams to restructure or extend contracts that count against the 2007 cap, or that contain signing bonus money that is prorated to include a charge in the 2007 cap year was 4 p.m. EST yesterday. If a team were to announce a contract extension for a player, the first year of the new deal would hit the current year's cap and not the next year's cap. | Head Coach Tom Coughlin | Where Are They Now? | Giants - Miami Raw Film Notes | Premium Statistics (Through Game 8) | London Photo Album | On the Road with the Giants: London
