TRAINING CAMP REPORT

The Day at Camp

When practice ended, the players and coaches couldn't get off the field and into their cars fast enough as the parade of big vehicles is in progress down the NY State Thruway. The Giants will continue their training aback at Giants Stadium starting with a jog-thru and meetings on Friday and continuing into next week when they'll wrap up the 2007 preseason against New England.

Some more roster moves took place. Gone are receiver Marco Thomas and linebacker Barry Robertson. Thomas had a groin injury and was also reportedly a discipline problem who broke a few team rules. So chances are high that he will end up on the Injured Reserve list if he clears waivers.

Speaking of IR, the team put veteran safety Michael Stone (hip) on IR and signed LB Karibi Dede (Auburn).

Lastly, there are conflicting media reports about whether DE Michael Strahan will be back this weekend in time for the Jets game. At this point, it's anyone's guess if or when Strahan will decide to leave behind Southern California.

Who’s Hot

Ahmad Bradshaw. The rookie is well on his way to nailing down a roster spot. Today he made a gorgeous one-handed, leaping reception of a pass from Jared Lorenzen, beating safety James Butler. Bradshaw also continues to look explosive and quick on his runs from scrimmage and he might pose a dilemma for the Giants in terms of distributing their ground game snaps. This rookie has been that impressive in camp and the preseason.

Who's Not

Michael Matthews. He had a sloppy showing last evening and it continued today as he jogged back to the huddle instead of hustling like fellow rookie Kevin Boss did. Plus Matthews had two more drops of passes right in his hands; not a very good thing to be doing with first cuts coming up soon.

Quote-worthy
"I told then they had a good camp. They paid attention, they listened, and they're coming together as a team."

— head coach Tom Coughlin on what he told his team prior to breaking camp

Medical Watch

TE Jeremy Shockey (hamstring), P Jeff Feagles (back) and RB Derrick Ward (ankle) remained out of practice today and will not play against the Jets. Also count out LB Gerris Wilkinson (knee), CB Sam Madison (hamstring) and S Will Demps (elbow) from the contest as well.

WRs Sinorice Moss (ankle) and Amani Toomer (ankle) returned to practice yesterday. WR Plaxico Burress (ankle) had to leave practice early with soreness, but he will probably see some snaps against the Jets unless his ankle swells up. and although QB Jared Lorenzen (concussion) participated in drills today, he will not play against the Jets, which actually is part of Coughlin’s plan as he seeks to figure out who will get the third quarterback spot, Anthony Wright or Tim Hasselbeck.
